Travels

The photo on the right was taken at one of the many upscale antique shops in Antwerp, Belgium.  I consider myself to be well traveled and I assure you the antique shops in this city are among the most fabulous anywhere.  One can expect to find antiques from countries including Sweden, Italy, France, England, Holland among others, and of course Belgium.  Styles that are sophisticated yet livable, comfortable and inviting.  We seldom purchase anything in Antwerp because antiques here can be quite pricey, but the inspiration is priceless

The castle in the photo at left is in Antwerp.  A typical day in Antwerp for us includes seeing the wonderful architecture and perusing the antique shops and warehouses. Then we enjoy pizza at one of the many street cafes, dining alfresco, where we also love to people watch.  After lunch we scout out more antique shops.  Did I mention that my husband, Bob, is a terrific shopper?  Although after 12 straight days of antique shopping he is always glad to head back home to Kansas!
The photo on the right is another of my favorite antique shops in Antwerp. Note the unfinished wood on the table, the white dishes in the huge vitrine, chairs upholstered in natural colored linen and the crystal chandeliers. Add just a touch of robin’s egg blue and there you have it – Belgium style at its best.
